We need the crowd with us and I'm sure they will be

That last meeting was in September at Selhurst Park when somehow Palace hung on for a 0-0 draw against a Burnley team that outplayed them and should have won convincingly, not something new Palace boss Dougie Freedman seems to recall.

Speaking ahead of today's game, he said: "When we last played Burnley at home, we deserved more than a 0-0 draw, and the same could be said at Cardiff. But let's not look backwards. I'm not one to do that, I like to look forwards.

"Our away performances have been decent of late and I hope we can deliver a good one at Turf Moor on Saturday.

"It was nice to see Jermaine Easter get off the mark against Reading, although I always knew he would score goals. He hasn't had as much opportunity as he'd like but I have had to play a different formation in the last few weeks and the strikers have had to wait for their chances.

"It has been a case of different players for different games. Sometimes we have gone with one striker but all the strikers have confidence that I will give them time on the pitch. I know they all have goals in them."

Burnley boss Eddie Howe brings his team home to Turf Moor for a first home game in four weeks. The run of away games have gone far better than anyone might have dared hope with seven points from three in the league and now Howe wants to back that up with home results.

"It's going to be critical, especially with eight of the remaining fourteen games being at home," he said as he looked forward to the visit of Crystal Palace, a team he considered joining just days before accepting the Burnley job.

"Our home form has been pretty good all season and we need to continue that. We need momentum. We have gained that but we need to carry that through. We are still playing catch up."

It is seven weeks tomorrow since Howe was confirmed as Burnley manager but this will be just his third home game in charge and only his second in the league. and he can't wait for this Turf Moor return.

"I'm looking forward to it. It's been a long time," he added. "We have had some good success on the road so it hasn't been too bad being away. But we are pleased to be back and we hope we can come back with a win.

"When we looked at the fixtures we couldn't quite believe it. We knew it was going to be a tough baptism but thankfully the lads have responded with some great results. So far it has been a really good experience for us.

"We have really enjoyed the two home games we've had. It's helped that we won them both but they have been really good experiences and we want to keep that run going at home. Home form has been strong all season. We need the crowd with us and I'm sure they will be. "We are on a high at the moment and hopefully the fans will continue with that.

"We need to get the basics right, starting against Crystal Palace. It will be difficult. Their away form hasn't been fantastic so they will be looking to change that and do whatever they can to improve it.

"But we will be well prepared. We have trained well this week and we hope that we can execute our plans and try and win the game."
