We lost too many individual battles at Blackpool

Blackpool go into the game having won the last two games and Grayson is looking for them to take the confidence gained into the Turf Moor clash. "I think the whole game has got the ingredients of being a classic game really, two teams that want to play the right way," Grayson said this morning.

He added: "Obviously Burnley are coming off a very good result at Forest at the weekend and us a good performance and win against Barnsley. We've had two back-to-back wins now and we want to try and make it three on the trot, but Burnley will be looking to make sure that we don't do that.

It's a game we're going into full of confidence. Obviously we respect Burnley, we think they're a good team, they've got some good players there and they've made a lot of changes over the summer, but it's a game we're all looking forward to."

Grayson's side had some success over both Burnley and Preston last season and he's looking for that to continue. He said: "I'm immensely proud of it, and I'm sure the fans will be proud of the situation. If we can replicate that again this year then we'll have the bragging rights, but it is a new season.

"Both Preston and Burnley have got new players, we have and obviously we're not going to underestimate any of the teams because it is a difficult league."

Owen Coyle finally saw his Burnley side win in the league three days ago with that 2-1 result at Nottingham Forest, but he was always confident we would soon start winning games. He said: "You always have a tendency to over analyse situations. We didn't get unduly worried and we kept the belief that we have players who can win games.

"We have got a lot of belief from that. Winning games breeds confidence and hopefully the lads will now kick on.

"There are certain games which can have an effect and the away match at Blackpool on New Year's Day was particularly hurtful. We lost too many individual battles that day and it is important we win those and go on to earn the right to play.

"Blackpool are well organised and come into the game on the back of some good results. They have won their last two games in the Championship which is always difficult to do, so we will give them the utmost respect. But individually and collectively we'll do our jobs, and if we do that we'll have a chance of winning the game."
