We have a team the town can be proud of

Martin O'Neill saw his side beat Bolton 5-1 last time out and spoke about Owen Coyle ahead of his club's trip to Burnley: "He may have been at St Johnstone when I was leaving Celtic but they weren't in the Premier League so I didn't come across him.

"But last season I thought Burnley were so phenomenal. They were involved heavily in cup competitions, they were desperately unlucky not to reach the final of the League Cup and then to carry that on, to go about the 46 games and end up getting promotion in the manner in which they did do, it is unbelievable.

"So you that that aside, then they have to go into this Premier League, they have to adjust to all of that, and adjust they have done. Their home record is remarkable considering they've just come up. They've also got Manchester United as a scalp and there'll not be that many bigger than that.

"They can definitely play, they want to play and he allows them the freedom of expression. Burnley have a reputation for being brilliant at home at the moment and they rectified things against Manchester City away from home. It was a great battling draw.

"We are playing them at a time when we know their record is good so from that viewpoint there won't be any real surprise. I think they'll come and attack us and I think they'll know we'll try to attack them too as that's the way we play.

"I think there'll be less surprises than Everton and Manchester United were afforded at the time, but it will still be a difficult fixture."

Owen Coyle has this week been talking about his long term plans for the club, admitting that his time at Turf Moor has been a whirlwind that he's loved every minute of.

Coyle has seen Burnley make an excellent start to life in the Premier League but is aware of how difficult each game is. "There's no doubt it's going to be a tough game," he said, speaking about the game against Villa.

"Martin O'Neill is a top class manager and someone I think any young, aspiring manager can look to as a role model. He has worked hard at the coal face and moved himself on.

"He has a fantastic team that he is building and moulding to his style and we will play them the utmost respect. But we have a team the town can be proud of and we will do our utmost to get a result on Saturday.

"We have reached the Premier League and we now have to kick on again and show drive, enthusiasm and all our qualities. We're all prepared for the challenge ahead and that is establishing ourselves as a Premier League club.

"That will be difficult in terms of finance and everything else, but it's achievable and we will do all we can to make sure we do."
