McCall thanked Coyle for taking his Burnley team to the Bradford & Bingley Pulse Flamingo Land Pension Fund Intersonic Coral Windows Valley Parade Stadium and said he was concerned that his side didn't lose by three or four against a team with real quality.

He was delighted though to come through it and said it was all about getting the players some time on the pitch and admitted it was very early days in their preparation.

The only disappointment for Owen Coyle was the result and he said after the game: "I don't like losing, but it's the first game and if truth be told we could have had a few early goals. Ultimately we had possession twice and lost it and got punished and the higher the level you go the more that happens.

"We've only done five training session and Bradford are a week ahead of us in terms of fitness. But we move on and get ready for Tuesday and all the lads who are fit and available will be involved.

"We wanted a couple of games before we go to America and fair play to Bradford, they worked ever so hard. We knew there would be lots of mistakes and there were, but that's what pre-season is for."
