We gave away a poor goal

It was only Derby’s second home win of the season and a delighted Burley said after the game, "Burnley are a dangerous side going forward but we were able to keep a clean sheet against them which allowed us to move up the table.

"We played with two young wingers and Candido Costa came in on the right and did well. It was an attacking line up and it came off for us.

"Lee Grant kept us in it once or twice. He is a top class keeper but he’s only young and he will make mistakes. Since he has come back into the side he has been consistent, and that’s good, because I have spoken to him about his concentration levels during games. He made one absolutely world class save in the first half.

"I thought Lee Morris worked really hard throughout and fully deserved his goal, he took it very coolly.

"When you are in a bad run of results as we have been winning one is so important. Of late we haven’t picked up the points we have deserved from our performances but we were exceptional today especially in the first 20 minutes.

"And the fans were outstanding today. They never got frustrated at all and got behind the young players even when Burnley were going forward. They created a great atmosphere."

Stan once again highlighted the bad habit of giving bad goals away. "I thought we were OK today," he said. "But we gave away a poor goal in the first half and we just keep doing it. We’ve given a bad goal away in four or five of the last games and it has got to stop. It means we have to score twice to win.

"David May has stepped up, and that is something we don’t do, and Morris his onside and goes on and scores.

"We had a few chances though and their keeper has made some fantastic saves but we have created good chances. Goals win games though and get you the points and again we haven’t scored today.

"The late penalty glossed over the game really because I thought we were every bit as good as, if not better than, Derby. They were panicking at 1-0 and we had a few good chances then."

Stan wasn’t happy with Arthur’s red card and added, "I’ll ask the referee (Uriah Rennie) to have a look at it because Lee Roche was covering. I felt it was harsh."

And on the recent run, "We’ve lost just three in the last eleven now which isn’t that bad but we need more wins."
