We created enough chances to win the game comfortably

Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill, who said that the warm reception he received from the Burnley fans before the game meant a lot to him, was delighted with his team's performance.

He said: "It was a great effort considering the squad numbers we've got. We were the side in the ascendancy in the first half and could have won it.

"It's been a really difficult Easter weekend, with Swansea and Burnley in 48 hours and the travelling that comes with it. That's an unbelievable ask, but we've equipped ourselves well and come away with two very good points from the games.

"David Nugent could have won it for us at the end when he went through, He's had a great season, but I thought he had an average game apart from his great goal.

"Like Swansea, Burnley are a good side, but they were nearly beaten by us. If we had had a bit more energy out there it would have made a difference, but we only had four substitutes so hat limited us.

"Ritchie De Laet and Aaron Mokoena only passed fitness tests before the game. If they hadn't made it we would only have had the two substitutes.

"We would have loved to have brought Kitson and Lawrence on but they're both injured. I don't know if either of them will play again this season. Kanu has had to play the whole 90 minutes, which is a lot for him."

Jason Tindall was on duty after the game for Burnley and he certainly saw things differently than Cotterill. "I felt we were the better side by far and created enough chances to win the game comfortably on another day," he said. "But that's football and we are disappointed.

"They made life very difficult for us, getting bodies behind the ball, but we responded well and once Chris scored we looked like going on to win it, with a decent amount of time left. Wade is contesting the goal, saying he got a little nick on it, but either way it was a great build up and finish and it made for a very entertaining last 20 minutes. The crowd got right behind us, but we didn't quite get the bounce we wanted."

Looking forward, Tindall added: "If you look at the table, we are still in with a good chance of making the play offs. It's an exciting finish, that's for sure, and we are certainly in with a great chance.

"We're in for two tough games, but we go to Leeds in what will be a fantastic atmosphere, and we are well capable of winning that game.

"We have proved that when we do play well we can beat anyone in this division, so we'll go there to try and win the game and make it a very exciting last game of the season."
