We could even have nicked it at the death

Argyle boss Ian Holloway was disappointed his side hadn't been able to grab a victory but he was well aware of the threat Burnley had posed in difficult conditions. “There was a slightly strange wind and we couldn't quite work it out,” he said.

“It affected the game a little bit, a game between two well organised sides who I felt we were evenly matched. It wasn't the prettiest of games to watch but we never expected it to be.

“I quite liked the look of my team, I thought we had flair in the right places and I just had that feeling that one of the two wide men or the front men were going to come up with something and win it for us. We looked a half decent team and I am feeling more and more confident all the time.”

Commenting on our late chances he added: “My heart went in my mouth when they went up the other end and they had a very good chance after Barry Hayles had hit the bar but I think both teams should be very pleased with themselves and both of these teams are going to acquit themselves quite nicely in this division.”

Steve Cotterill was happy with the point and thought it was the correct result, although did think we could have gone on and won it. “It was a hard fought point because this is a very hard place to come and get a result,” he said.

“We are delighted with the point and we could even have nicked it at the death with Steve Jones having a good chance and Andy Gray two chances.

“That would have been unjust on Plymouth. There were two honest teams out there with lots of similarities, and all in all we are pleased to take a point home. We did the mucky side of the game well, and we had to do that, because otherwise we would have lost the game.

“I am just a little bit disappointed in our attacking play and our passing, it wasn't as good as we have shown in previous games.”
