We can still do it if we win all ten remaining games

Having made a number of changes Stan was much happier at the way we played and needless to say Leicester boss Micky Adams was very much a happy man after seeing his side pick up three more valuable points despite not playing particularly well.

"We talked about it before the game about getting the attitude right," said Adams. "We had to because we knew Stan would wind his troops up before the game and rightly so.

"He was looking to get a reaction from his players which I thought he got and what we had to get right was the attitude and I thought we were spot on with that.

"We’re not there yet but I’m watching the team above and not the teams below. We just need to keep winning and not bother about anyone else."

Having lambasted his players following the defeat at Walsall Stan was pleased to see that there had been an improvement.

"I thought we played pretty well against a big strong side. At times the ball kept coming back against their big lads at the back and we were a little short up there in the air without Gareth Taylor.

"We had the better chances in the game but they didn’t go in. We didn’t have any luck and you need the breaks.

"Both their goals were from set plays and we have to do better defensively with them but it’s not losing but how you lose and we will win more than we lose if we play like that.

"I keep telling the players they are good enough to be a top six side and mathematically we can still do it if we win all ten remaining games. I haven’t given up on the play offs, you’ve got to go for it, and I don’t think I am asking too much."

Stan was less than happy over the quit threat headlines that first appeared in the local press. He angrily denied the suggestion and added,

"I have no intention of leaving, and never said at any stage that I was considering leaving Burnley Football Club. I talked about the players and everyone has picked it up from there. I would expect a full retraction and redress of the balance. It is totally bang out of order."

Reading back at some of Stan’s comments it is easy to interpret that he might be looking at leaving, just as it was when he said he was considering his future after the defeat at Reading earlier in the season.

Having recently bemoaned the collapse of ‘SKY Digital’ maybe Stan needs to choose his words more carefully.
