We believe in what we do both home and away

Hughes spoke about the break and how it can have an effect on teams. He said: "We started to get into momentum. The last two outings we've been encouraged.

"Ideally we would have liked to play Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, whenever, but that wasn't the case, the season's fragmented by these international breaks. I'm sure club managers are glad there isn't another for a number of months.

"if you can get a win before the international break that's what you want. A defeat is hard to take because you want the group straight back in to address what went wrong, but Burnley will know coming to Stoke will be a difficult fixture but confidence is a huge thing. Mind, we're confident ourselves and we're really looking forward to this fixture.

"The emphasis this week once everyone has been back has been that this could be our most important game in terms of the impact of our season so far. We've just had a good result and now we have an opportunity to really kick on, shape our season and remain in the top half until the end of the season. That's our aim. It's a huge game for us, arguably our biggest of the year so far.

Dyche will be hoping to build on that win against Hull two weeks ago but said of tomorrow's opponents: "Stoke are recognised now as a fully established Premier League club after the fantastic work by Tony Pulis.

"They've been taken on and flexed as Mark Hughes sees fit in his own style and they've had some really good results this season.

"Our challenge is to go there and be brave as we've been trying to do all season and win a football match; their challenge is to beat a team who the expectation will be that they sort of have to beat Burnley Football Club. That'll happen when we play most teams this season."

With that first win secured, he added: "The thought from the outside of will they win a game has now gone, and not it's about making it uncomfortable because we will be that team now that teams think 'well they've won one and now they're looking for another' and all of a sudden the psyche of the opposition changes.

"The expectation will be on every single opposition this season but we believe in what we do both home and away."
