We believe in what we can achieve

Warnock took charge of their game at Newcastle two weeks ago but tomorrow will be the first home game of his second spell in charge of the club, and Stan Ternent's nemesis is predicting a close game tomorrow.

He said today: "I have got a lot of time for Sean Dyche. For me, he was very close to being manager of the year last season and I'm looking forward to pitting my wits against him. We've had a few good battles over the years.

"Burnley are hard working but they've got quite a lot of ability. You don't go up without having anything and they've added to the squad with some shrewd signings.

"The ethic is a bit like ourselves and I think both teams work very hard for each other. I expect it to be a close encounter.

"The two teams are close so I'm hoping the Palace fans can just sway it. Their strikers are very important to Burnley, then you have Kieran Trippier who is as good a right-back as there is around at the moment.

"Like us, they probably don't have many start names but players who are always going to give you a good game."

Sean Dyche has three more players in his squad than he did for the last game following the signing of George Boyd from Hull and the loan captures of Nathaniel Chalobah and Michael Keane, all three signing on transfer deadline day eleven days ago.

He's hinted that Boyd is the one likely to be involved with the other two, fresh from England under-21 duty, perhaps needing to get used to Burnley before he involves them in a Premier League game.

"The two young lads have literally just come into the building, so we will maybe give them a little time and the weekend might be too early for them," he admitted yesterday.

"I want them to get a feel for what we are about and how we operate. It's hard to do that when they just walk through the door. We diluted their training because of their involvement with the under21s and the fact Michael played the other night.

"George is a step in front of that. Obviously he has been here for virtually two weeks now and knows a lot more about us and how we operate. He's also a bit more mature as a player, so he has a better chance, but we'll see what the next 48 hours bring."

The Clarets' boss also joined in the mutual respect talk regarding Warnock but admitted surprise that he'd gone back in at Palace.

"I thought he had chosen the time to say no that's it I'll go and enjoy the family but he's obviously got the bug again which happens in football.

"It's a great game, that's why we all love it and he certainly loves it. Make no mistake, there will be no love in when the whistle blows with Neil. He wants his team to perform and so do I."

A lot of people have looked at what Palace achieved last season to show that the relegation favourites can defy the odds and Dyche added: "You can achieve things beyond possibly everyone's thoughts on what you can achieve. We were written off an hour after getting promotion last year. We believe in what we can do and what we can achieve and Palace did last season."
