We battered them in the second half

Taylor admitted that he was pleased to be going home with a point in what he considered a tough game. "Both teams conceded a set piece and whilst each will be pleased how they scored their goal they will also be disappointed with conceding in the way they did," he said.

"I felt our passing let us down and wasn't as good as I would expect because if it had have been we could have made more of opportunities that come our way. Ben Watson's delivery was good for our goal and if balls in are that food then they are always hard to deal with as we found with the equaliser. I am disappointed that we allowed Michael Duff to score the goal but sometimes when a good cross is put over you can't stop the goal.

"Burnley is not an easy place to play an they are always a well organised team with individuals like Robbie Blake in very good form at the moment, so it is a result we would have taken before kick off. All you can ask for is the players work extremely hard and without a doubt they have done that in this game. We now need to learn from what we didn't do right and kick on from this result."

Steve Cotterill thought we deserved to win the game, and he also had praise for one of his players. "We probably had one outstanding player," he said. "I thought Robbie Blake was immaculate and it was very unfortunate for him that he couldn't conjure up a winner.

"I can remember four quality strikes and if one of them is six inches lower. I just thought he was absolutely faultless. It's amazing what having a baby does [Robbie's wife gave birth to their first child, daughter Mia on Monday night] and how Robbie hasn't scored the winner for us, I don't know."

Cotterill highlighted the second half performance as where he thought we should have gone on and won the game. "I thought we battered them in the second half after starting the game sloppily and conceding an early goal.

"The injury to Michael Duff didn't help us, coupled with a few players being off colour, but the boys showed good character to try very hard for a winner that, over the ninety minutes, I felt we deserved. All the way through the second half we were by far the better team than the one that took the field in the first half, which is the only disappointment."

On the Duff injury he added: "We don't know how Michael is at the moment. It doesn't look good, but we're just hoping it isn't bad. We'll probably have to wait a bit of time and he will probably go home on crutches. It will more than likely need a scan to assess it."
