We are on a good little run in the league

Freedman has seen his Palace side win just twice since he took over from George Burley in January, both those wins coming at Selhurst Park, and he saw his side fail to comeback after an early Jay Rodriguez goal gave us the lead.

After the game, Freedman said: "We were disappointed obviously with the goal but I thought our performance after that was encouraging and very positive. There's a lot to take from the game and we were just a little bit unlucky with the goal and it's ended up being the winning goal.

"Our away form as results go they talk about but our performances I'm very comfortable with. We came to a very difficult place and we had lots of possession and chances so I go home tonight quite pleased with what I've seen but disappointed with the result.

"There wasn't a lot in the game at all so I'm comfortable with the dressing room I have and comfortable with the performance today. I won't be going home scratching my head trying to change things. We'll dust ourselves down and look forward to the next game away at QPR.

"It's going to be a tough couple of months. The Championship is a tough league especially when you are down near the bottom and scrapping for your lives. The good things is the boys are doing that. We have good characters in the dressing room and if they keep doing that for each other it will turn."

Assistant manager Jason Tindall was the man speaking on behalf of the Clarets after the game and he was purring about the goal from Jay that won the points. "Nothing surprises us with Jay," Tindall said.

"He works hard in training and what a strike it was, one worthy of winning any game. He just keeps getting better and better and more confident. He is also scoring goals and will only get better. HE's an exceptional talent with a really bright future ahead of him."

Jay is key to the Clarets right now with the injury list hitting our strikers and Tindall added: "It's important we keep Jay and Big Chris fit because we can't afford to lose any more strikers.

"We are not just going to go out and sign anybody though. They have to be the right person coming in to make us stronger and improve our squad. If that player is available then we will try and do it, if not, we won't rush into anything.

"We are not in any great rush. We have a fantastic squad and although we are short on numbers hopefully we won't get any more injuries."

Speaking about the win over Palace, Tindall continued: "It is always tough playing a side that is fighting for their lives at the foot of the table.

"We played some excellent football in the first half, and we would have liked to have had a few more shots. We moved the ball well though and it's a shame we couldn't repeat that in the second half, but we showed both sides of our game. We defended well as a team and a clean sheet was really important, so we are pleased with that.

"Our aim is to finish as high up the table as possible and we know that by putting in performances like today and getting the results it's a good start. We are on a good little run in the league and hopefully we can continue that."
