We are not going to be playing Chelsea every week

Chelsea won it with a goal right on half time and two more in the first seven minutes of the second half and the new league leaders turned in a performance that left Ancelotti in a very positive mood.

"I am happy because we showed good play on the pitch, played very well in the first half and had good ideas to play," the Italian said. "We have to maintain this situation and now the play improves with improved confidence. We are very happy.

"We have a possibility, we started well but we know the season is very long. It will be difficult for sure this season but we have possibility to step up. Every week we work to play well and for a coach it is important to see that the players play well, the most important thing for me is that we are on the right way, to train and to work.

"I know very well football and know when we have a possibility to score and don't score. It can be more difficult, the match, but I didn't have to say anything to my players in the first half because we played very well, very well and we were lucky for sure that in the last minute of the first half we scored and the second half was there for us.

"The first half was nearly 2-0, it was not a big problem, and it was important to maintain concentration and quick movement of the ball for all ninety minutes."

Owen Coyle saw Burnley fall to their heaviest defeat since January but he had praise for his players after the start we've made to the season. There are positives to take from it and I have thanked the lads in there for the start of the season and what they've given me," he said.

"I think everyone has seen the effort and commitment we have in the team and we have to continue to do that. It was a lesson at times the way Chelsea move the ball, so we will take our medicine and look to pick ourselves up and go again.

"The younger players will evolve and get better and what we do realise is we are not going to be playing Chelsea every week.

"We obviously came with a plan, as you do when you come to places like Chelsea. We were well in the game, there's no doubt about that. We had one or two opportunities in the first half and Martin Paterson is in the dressing room apologising to the lads.

"I have said to him I have no problem with people missing chances. I had a career full of them, I can assure you. The problem comes when you are not getting chances.

"However, we are not deluding ourselves. Chelsea had a host of chance and Brian had some big saves. We were hoping to get in at half time at 0-0 with everything to play for, and the first goal I though there might have been suspicions of offside, but there's no doubt over the piece that Chelsea were deserving winners.

"We are just a little disappointed as a group that we have come here and lost 3-0 and that's a measure of how far we have come in such a short space of time."
