We are looking for consistency

Nigel Pearson saw his side go down to defeat at Wolves on Sunday but is confident they can pick up the points tonight to preserve their 100 per cent home record.

Despite that defeat, Pearson said: "The players are still in good spirits. We have missed a couple of opportunities, there is no doubt about that, but we are still very positive in our mindset.

"I have watched their Peterborough game and it was a very open game. They certainly played with a high tempo so we will certainly have to ensure our performance is right.

"We have two home games in a week and we will be looking to maintain our home form. It is never easy when you lose away from home because it puts that added pressure on your home form. We have got to get back to playing near our best again."

Pearson, referring to the goals conceded at Wolves, added: "I am not sure the defensive errors have been happening on a regular basis. That is not the case. Sunday's mistakes were ones I would expect us to avoid, but they have not been happening on a regular basis.

"In a couple of games in particular we have not helped ourselves, such as the Charlton and the Wolves games. Apart from that, it has not been the case in the league, but we will work on that.

"I am confident that we will start taking our chances. The frustrating thing is we haven't taken them, but we continue to cause teams a lot of problems and create a lot of chances, but, of course, it is about winning, and not about playing nice football and losing. We have to get back to being more efficient."

Eddie Howe takes the Clarets to Leicester full of confidence after Saturday's win against Peterborough. "It gives everyone confidence," he said. "Confidence is probably the biggest factor for any sportsman so it gives the lads a boost and hopefully we can go to Leicester and give a good account of ourselves.

"Every game you go into is a tough game and it's no different with the next two games we have coming up and the games beyond, but I think we have shown in our away games that even though we have been defeated in them we are more than capable of getting a result."

Those defeats came at Middlesbrough and Huddersfield after we'd started the season with a home win against Bolton. Now, Howe wants to build on the latest home win.

"We are looking for consistency and a run of games where we are hard to beat and difficult to play against and that's a challenge for every team in the Championship," he added.

"You can see already that the league is going to be probably similar to last year where you have a whole group of teams with a couple of points between them, which shows the unpredictability and strength of the league.

"It's that type of league. It's a very strong division. We certainly want to start picking up points away from home so they (Leicester and Saturday's game at Derby) are two tough games but two great games for us."
