Clark's team were beaten by a Charlie Austin goal at QPR on Saturday but by all accounts played well. He's been using a 3-5-2 system this season but switched to 3-4-3.
"I can't really remember Darren Randolph having to make a save and we were very solid without the ball," he said. "I just felt in the 3-5-2 we weren't making enough chances but if you have the three attacking players and three central defenders it gives you more of a threat and it proved to be the case. We created numerous chances and our front there were a handful.
"I've just got to keep telling them how well they are doing. The only thing you can be negative about is us not taking our chances. So you go out on the training field and work with them, recreate the chances that they have. The more you practice, the better you become at what you're doing."
Looking to tonight's game, he added: "Burnley's start has not surprised me at all. Sean is a very good manager. He's got his team working extremely hard and they have got lots of talented players when they have got the ball.
Ings, Stanislas, Kightly, Arfield, all these types of players, very effective. Trippier is one of the best attacking full backs in the division and they have got lots of balance in the team, they're a strong unit, so we are expecting a very tough match."
Dyche, clearly recalling the support for the team on Saturday, said: "Supporters back the club and get frustrated when things are not so good, but I think they know they have a manager, a staff and a group of players who will give everything and that gives us a connection.
"There has been an adjustment financially, but I think the fans have accepted that and there are certainly good things going on here and the fans are on board. They are making Turf Moor an awkward place for teams to come and get a result by really backing the side.
"Now of course, results help, and it's when we get an indifferent result or performance that's when we need them to be at their best, but I am sure they will play their part and we can achieve good things together."
Dyche added: "We are building a good mentality here among the squad and I've mentioned before the importance of everyone. Junior came on at the weekend and affected the game, so long may things like that continue.
"I've made it clear they'll all play at some point and Junior has shown, among others, that they are ready. he came on, looked sharp and scored as fine a goal as you'll see. He has been very respectful of the position, but they know you can only pick 11 and they will be ready to play their part.
"I am sure they get frustrated, but when they get that shirt it's their job to make sure they look to keep it."
Speaking about tonight's opponents, he said: "Birmingham have had an awkward start, but they have some challenges of their own. it's the first time in recent times I can remember in a long time that they haven't had some finance to throw at the team.
"But I know Lee Clark and I know he will be looking to improve results. They are still a good side and they have good experience and some good young players, so we won't be taking anything for granted."
