We are all in it together; the players and the fans

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson has told his players to beware a big start from the Clarets. He said: "We expect a high tempo from Burnley, they'll come at us early. I'm sure they won't want to leave it late to try and get a goal with everyone glued to radios for scores from elsewhere.

"We have to do a job for ourselves, respect the League as much as we can to try and win the game. We haven't slowed up the pace of training in any way because we want them up for this game like any other.

"It's nothing to do with being party poopers, I wouldn't say that. We're not going there to stop Burnley, we're going there for a win for our own purpose. It's the last game of our season and we want to go into the long summer on the back of a win."

After missing the chance to claim a play off spot last week the Clarets go again with Owen Coyle saying: "I am not going to kid anyone and say we wouldn't have loved to be in the play offs last Saturday night.

"Believe it or not, I was taxiing down the runway when I got the text message to say Preston had scored their second goal at Birmingham. I can't say it was the best flight in the world, but there you go.

"We still knew we could decide our own fate and we don't do anything easy at this football club, so we just need to be at our best one more time. I remember saying to the players with ten games left that they had ten cup finals. Nine games on we are masters of our own destiny."

He added: "There are always negatives from outside influences, but we don't let that get to us. We remain focused and given the season these players have had we want something for our efforts.

"There have been twists and turns and I always though everything would be sorted on the last day. I had hoped I was wrong, but at the start of the season if someone had said we would have two magnificent cup runs and take care of five Premier League sides, with a chance to decide our own destiny on the last day, then we would have taken that.

"We are all in it together; the players, the staff at the club and the fans, who have such an important part to play. Now we have to see the job through."

An important part to play he said of the fans and he expanded on that. "We want the place rocking come Sunday," he said. "We know what it's like when we have a full house and I'm sure there will be a great atmosphere.

"Our fans are so vocal, and when they are, and the players are champing at the bit to get them a result, that's a potent force and a formidable threat.

"The support is vital, as it has been from day one, and, to be fair to the fans, they've been nothing short of magnificent and long may that continue. When you have that level of support, particularly when it's so vocal, the players respond to that, and hopefully that will be the same against Bristol City."
