We all want to finish as high as possible

Back in November it was Sean Dyche who had a second game in charge of Burnley against Leeds, but tonight McDermott will be trying to emulate our manager by getting off to a start with two home wins after they'd beaten Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Still getting his feet under the table, McDermott said about tonight's game: "First and foremost, you want to win, but I also want the team to play well and pass the ball and enjoy the game.

"I also want the crowd to get into the game and enjoy the experience. You want to win with a certain style as well, but if you can't, then win."

Dyche will certainly have had a look over his shoulder but insists that how we perform is all that matters.

"I think you can describe any game in the Championship, for any team, as tough this season. It's been an amazing season for many reasons and the competition has been fierce and most managers I speak to can't put their finger on the whys and wherefores of it," he said.

"It's important we look after ourselves and that starts at Leeds on Tuesday night. We still want to finish the season strong; that's our intention and main focus.

"The challenge never changes. We want as many wins on the table as we can and we have four big and important games left. We are looking forward to them, working hard and looking to earn the right to get all three points."

He added: "There are so many good teams and players in this league now along with the money. A lot of good players have dropped down from the Premier League and it's a strange league too, as anyone can beat anyone.

"But it's a great league to be in and nothing is sorted yet. If we win on Tuesday we will shoot up a few places. The play offs may be out of reach, but we all want to finish as high as possible."
