There were quite a few positives from the game

Kevan said he was pleased with the way things had gone over the ninety minutes as the Clarets moved a stage further in their preparation for the new season which starts in two weeks with a visit to Crewe.

“It is always useful at this time of the season to get ninety minutes under your belt,” said Kevan. “So from that point of view it was another game and another step forward in our fitness.

“We felt we had the best chances of the game and their goalkeeper made an excellent save and it is pleasing to keep another clean sheet. From that point of view we have no complaints but we would like to have had a bit more spark and a bit more energy.

“It is all about getting the balance right from training, working hard and leaving enough for their performance and probably today we didn’t just have enough to create some energy and life in our performance.

“There were quite a few positives from the game, it is another ninety minutes and the lads will be better for it and it will give the lads an opportunity to blend.”

On the opposition, Dave added, “They are no mugs, they play in top flight Spanish football and have done for a number of years now so we knew it was going to be a test and a different type of test for us.

“it was difficult for us today because of all the stoppages and we found it hard at times.”
