There are lots of challenges coming our way

Powell's team haven't won since beating Leicester at the end of August and ahead of the journey from London he said: "Regardless of tactics and formations, the players have to stand up now, and so do I.

"I have to lead from the front and show them that we've got to carry on believing in one another. It won't be easy, we're going to have downs and times when people will doubt us, that's natural. But I believe in them and believe in us, because we can get points at this level.

"It won't be easy. The three sides that are our next opponents (they face and next week) are a tough proposition in some respects, sometimes you want that to happen because perhaps the pressure is more on them.

"So we need to make sure that we man up and face it and do our best to come through it with a points return."

Powell added: "We've been here before. If you can get two results in a matter of days, it changes the whole feeling. We know exactly that at times, when things aren't going right for you, you stick together and make sure you turn it around.

"We did it a number of times last year and I know this group of players can do it again. Our focus is now on Burnley and we go to a place where they're getting results, but equally we can arrest a slide we've had in the last two games and look forward to trying to get some points back on board.

"As we know about the Championship, it doesn't matter who you're going to play, that's the sort of league it is. It doesn't matter who you play, you want to play and do your best and get the previous game out of your system, and that's what we'll be doing."

Dyche is well aware of the challenge we face from Charlton despite their difficult start to the season. He said: "Charlton had a very good season under Chris Powell last season and the season before were promoted.

"This season they've had a toughish start but we know that can happen, it's an unforgiving league. But I've seen them against Millwall and I thought they performed pretty well on the whole and I know Chris overall has felt they have performed well enough to have had more points on the board.

"So we've got to make sure that we are ready but I think we've shown good signs of being that. Whoever we are playing we look ready, mentally and physically, and the shape of the team's been good and we think we've got some really good players who can effect a game so we're in good shape ready for that challenge."

Dyche, asked to comment on the current run at home, was having none of it, adding: "I think it's about the next game and that's what's important to us. It is at Turf Moor. We are enjoying ourselves at Turf Moor and I think the fans are enjoying what we are trying to build here, but there are no guarantees and we have to make sure we are ready to deliver another performance."

He's looking for that level of consistency that will bring good performances. "There are certainly very good signs of it and I think for the Burnley fans who follow us through thick and thin, I think they've seen signs of that, particularly in pre-season.

"I thought there were really positive signs about that levelling off in performance levels, positive high level performances and maintaining those performances throughout ninety minutes and it's difficult. I make it clear all the time; we go to Leeds and in the last twenty minutes we have to give a different kind of performance to make sure of that result. Against Forest, in the last ten minutes, we have to make sure of that result.

"There are different ways of doing it and that's where the consistency is coming, the mentality to obviously score goals and win games but to not concede and that real mentality it needs to win games because it's not an easy thing to do and it's not an easy thing to do consistently so there are many signs of consistency but it is always a work in progress."

Burnley go into the game in second place in the league, but what about that league table. "It's not too big a thing because, and we enjoy it, why wouldn't you, I know the realities of this division and the players do as well," he added.

"We don't take anything for granted. We are looking to build something. for sure we are delighted with it and enjoying it but it has to be safeguarded, there has to be a knowledge that there is lots and lots of work to do and lots of challenges coming our way."
