The supporters have been fantastic

Coyle joined the Clarets in November of last year and says we can take a lot of positives from the season despite the recent run of results that have seen us fade away from the chase for the play offs.

"We want to go out on a high by winning both of our last two games and rewarding our fans," he said. "We want to push ourselves up the league and accumulate as many points as we can.

"The supporters have been fantastic and very vocal getting behind the team. They have give us some tremendous backing and the players have responded to it. Statistically we are the 20th best supported team in the Championship, so there are obviously a lot bigger budgets out there than ours."

Even so Coyle has seen the positives and has taken note that we have now gone past the 60 points earned in Steve Cotterill's first season as manager. "We have already accumulated our best points total for six years," he added. "So there are plenty of positives to take from this season and that's the way we aim to continue. We want to take that points total on and we have set ourselves targets to surpass. We are now looking for two big performances."

The first of these games is against FA Cup Finalists Cardiff and on our opponents Coyle said: "The Cardiff players will be doing their upmost to make sure that they play in that final. We know we are in for a tough game and they were very unfortunate to lose at Wolves this week.

"All credit to them, they are a very good footballing side and it is a big boost for the Championship with them being in the fnal. It just shows the undoubted quality within the league and that's probably a compliment to ourselves too. So if we can finish high in this league it bodes well for the future of the club."
