The players are giving all they can

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton saw his side miss two good chances before they fell behind to Wade Elliott's nineteenth minute strike and he said: "We could and should have been two goals up but then ten seconds after we missed the second chance we were picking the ball out of our net.

"It was a bad goal to give away but the lads showed great character to get back in the game with a good goal from Gio and we could have won it in the end. The fans here like a hero and they've got another one now in the lad. He looked bright and bubby and showed the quality you would expect from a player that has been at Barcelona and cost Tottenham over £4 million.

"He drifted in and our of the game which comes with lacking a little match fitness but we were pleased with him. He should have had another goal and Kevin Lisbie had a great chance as well.

"Burnley are a good side though and are very dangerous on the counter attack so although we are disappointed it was only a point, we will go again on Saturday against Watford."

Owen Coyle was disappointed it was only a point in the end but realised the importance of getting something out of the game. "It could turn out to be an important point and I certainly hope so," he said.

"There is a slight disappointment that after going in front we haven't got all three points. But I think it was a fantastic game and that takes us up to 62 points, which was our total last season and our best for six years.

"So we want to improve on that again and we will see where that takes us. Now we go to Plymouth on Saturday, followed by Derby in a fortnight. Then we have three of the last five games at home against teams around and about us.

"It makes for a fantastic climax to the Championship and I believe it will all go to the last day, including automatic promotion, the play off places and relegation."

On the game he said: "I thought we looked incisive, full of pace and I believe we have some of the best offensive players in the league at doing that.

"There are always going to be periods in a game when you have to stand up to some pressure and when they scored it was a wake up call for us. But we got back on the front foot again and had two or three chances late on to win it.

"We are trying to play football that is easy on the eye and try to entertain and I will continue to do that in the closing games. I won't compromise because I believe that's our best way of trying to win games.

"The players are giving all they can and I honestly can't ask any more. I know the desire and hunger to win games and when they bring the ability we are a potent threat capable of standing toe to toe with the best.
