The people of Burnley have been terrific

Adkins, who has previously managed both Scunthorpe and Southampton, knows his team need to equal the result obtained by Brighton at Nottingham Forest to clinch the one remaining play off place.

"The lads who are going to cross that white line are going to give it everything they've got for the cause," Adkins said today.

"It's the 46th game of the league campaign, and we've got to go and win it. We want a full house at the Madejski Stadium, full of positive energy off the field getting generated on to the pitch.

"We need everybody in it together, and all being well we can look forward to the play-offs. We've got two strikers scoring goals in this moment of time and we've got to keep the momentum going."

I think Adkins might have preferred another team to face in their important last game, but it is the Clarets and of us he said: "Burnley have rightly got themselves promoted to the Premier League. They've done a great job and we know they're a good side, which we found to our cost when we played them at Turf Moor.

"They'll want to finish off the season on a high, they'll want to win the game, but we want to win the game, so it should be a cracker."

There was no game at a time talk from Dyche today. It's his last game as a manager in the Championship tomorrow for some time and he goes there having won a third manager of the month award during this fantastic season.

Before having a brief word about the game, he said of this latest award: "It's tremendous. I always take them on behalf of the staff and the players of course, but also the club and the people of Burnley.

"People talk about the business end of the season but I've said many times that every part of the season is the business end, but there is a point to it and we had to get the results in this last month and the team has done that, and for that I'm very proud of this one.

"It's a great achievement for me, but it's also for the club, and for that I take it gladly."

He continued: "The people of Burnley have been terrific in the way they've supported the club. I've asked for that mentality to grow and I've asked for the positivity to grow and it absolutely has.

"It's been there and it's been clear, and that's of great value because we're going to need that as the challenge gets higher again. We're going to need that positivity and the connection with people as it's going to be important next season."

Dyche concluded: "It's the last game of the season and we want to enjoy that. The players have earned the right to enjoy it.

"They've got the main work done of course, but once the whistle blows we want to make sure that we are competitive in our performance and we certainly want the three points."
