Sometimes you don't get your just rewards

It really does take some believing that he even bothers to go to games because he certainly doesn’t ever see anything and there was never any chance of him seeing the Michael Jackson handball, the Ricardo Fuller dive, any of Fuller’s assaults on Jensen, West and Little or Dickson Etuhu’s disgraceful attack on Richard Chaplow.

No he preferred to talk about all the missing players from what looked very close to a full strength Preston side, this from a man who said he was sick and tired of hearing about our problems.

"We started with seven first choice players hurt then we lose our captain (Lucketti) and then we lose Etuhu to make it nine," cried WW. "Under the circumstances with the injuries that we had although not playing well a draw was fair.

"I think we had better chances to win it actually and Ricardo Fuller had a number of chances which could have won the game. Then there was the save from Keane in the first half and Lonergan had no saves to make in the game, he only had a couple of crosses to keep out.

"I asked the referee after the game and he said that Fuller punched his opponent. If he punched the opponent he deserves to be sent off. The problem is that nobody else other than the referee saw it, they said that he made a gesture with his arm to get free."

WW then appallingly suggested that Fuller is targeted and then incredibly said, "The referee was getting some stick for having given the penalty and I said that immediately after that point the home side would get everything."

Stan saw things somewhat differently. He saw all the things that WW had conveniently missed and was adamant that the Clarets were the better side.

"It wasn’t a fair result, not in my view," said Stan. "I thought territorially we were miles in front of them and we battered them 1-1.

"The referee then gave them a penalty and it wasn’t a penalty, it was the worst decision of the afternoon and I’ve seen it again on video.

"But it was a penalty because he gave it but it wasn’t technically and they got an equaliser from that. If they had scored a goal you would have said fair play, but that wasn’t a proper goal.

"Sometimes you don’t get your just rewards and at the moment the players aren’t but we have picked another point up.

"So we are at 40 now and we need to get to 50."
