Some players have been waiting for the opportunities

Doncaster arrive at Turf Moor having beaten Sheffield Wednesday at home last Saturday and Dickov will be hoping to exact some revenge for our 2-0 win at the Keepmoat earlier in the season.

"We know this will be a tough game against a side who are one of the best sides in the Championship," he said. "With winning Saturday we can go into this game with a bit of freedom because most pundits will have said won't be expected to get any points there.

"We have showed both home and away this season that against the better sides we have performed well and have matched them without sometimes getting the results we deserved. When we went to Wigan we should that against the better clubs we can match them and came away with a creditable draw.

"The team are full of confidence at the moment but know they cannot take their foot off the peddle as although we are eight points clear, it has happened before and you can easily get sucked back down into the relegation zone. There are six points to play for this week so we need to keep focus.

"The players have given me the reaction I asked for on the training field, which has carried over to the matches, which the lads have to take a lot of credit for."

Speaking about the Clarets, he added: "Sean Dyche has got his side well organised and has put together a side that are experienced and good footballers. They are up there and unbeaten at home, which is fantastic at this level.

"I want my players to go to their patch and show what they can do against one of the best sides. We have only one away win and they are unbeaten at home, so on paper it's a banker home win but in this division we have seen time and time again that results can surprise you. Where better to go and prove that you can match the best than an unbeaten home side.

"When we played them at home we matched them, but a penalty and an own goal lost it us but since then we have got new personnel in, so they will be looking to prove a point. I'm sure that with a good backing as usual from our fans on the night we can match them and look to get more points on the table."

Dyche knows he's without both Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier again but he's said all along that such events give other players an opportunity and, up front, that's been grabbed by January signing Ashley Barnes.

Barnes got his first Burnley goal on Saturday but the month has been very much about goals coming from various different players - nine in total - and ahead of tonight's game, Dyche said: "I have been pleased with the goals coming from all areas of the pitch and that is credit to the mentality of the team.

"I always say to the players: 'Be the man that makes the difference!" That can come in many ways, be it the 'keeper making a save, a defender making a big tackle or, of course, it can come with a goal.

"They've got the freedom to score goals and I'm never going to berate anyone for missing a chance. The group mentality is key and everyone can make a difference. I always believed that as a player and I believe it now as a manager."

Confirming the absence of the two injured players, he added: "Of course we don't want injuries but we are a collective. The group mentality and group focus is the key. The team's mentality, tactical understanding, belief, energy and of course quality means we can still be productive.

"People were worried last season when Charlie Austin went down injured and we actually ended up taking more points without him in that period. All injuries are challenges but it is also a great opportunity for players."

And he said of Barnes: "Some players have been waiting for the opportunities to come in and say I want to be a part of this and help the team. I'm delighted for Ash. He wanted to come in and make a difference.

"He worked ever so hard against Leeds and got stronger as the game went on. I thought Saturday he always look a threat. He got himself in the right areas at the right time and could have had a brace but for the 'keeper making a big save."

Dyche is aware of Doncaster's recent run of results. "Doncaster have had a few nice results and will be coming away to us wanting to do something," he said. "We are aware of the opposition but we know that when the whistle blows we will be ready, as we have been all season.

"We have to be relentless in our thinking once again and the players will be ready on Tuesday."
