Our boys are playing with some belief now

Mackay is one of two managers in the Championship whose team can boast a 100% home record, and, having broken a club record, he is looking to extend that tomorrow.

“I’m proud of my players for achieving that, I’m pleased they have a hand in a little bit of the club’s history,” said Mackay.

“You could look at it in one way that a bit of pressure is there for us to keep the run going, but you could look at it the other way too. You could say that teams visiting our ground will be more than aware of it and it might give us that bit of an advantage over visiting teams now.

“Even if that is the case we know we have to keep working hard and doing what we are doing if we are going to keep the momentum going.”

Looking ahead to the game, he's, hardly surprisingly, identified Charlie Austin as our biggest threat. He added: "He is in excellent form this season so far we are more than aware of that. We have studied videos and we know he is going to be a threat, but there is nothing individually we will do.

“Austin was at Swindon and is now finding his feet at Burnley, he reminds me in that way of (currently injured Cardiff striker) Nicky Maynard, who took time at Bristol City and then ended up the top scorer in the Championship.

“There’s parallels with my time at Watford when I had Danny Graham. No offence to anyone, but you have a situation where you have a prolific striker in a side that is not really among the biggest in the division.

“We will not be singling Austin out, but we have done our homework and we know that Burnley have a lot of threats we will need to deal with.”

Pashley, who took over when Eddie Howe returned to Bournemouth two weeks ago, is in charge for a third time. He's been delighted with the response from the players but also appreciates tomorrow's game is a difficult one.

He said: “They are a good, solid bunch here and probably what they need now is a little bit more direction in terms of the new man coming in.

“Cardiff are not up at the top of the league for nothing. They have been up there or thereabouts for the last couple of years, so we will expect a tough game, but our boys are playing with some belief now, so we will go there and I am sure we will do ourselves justice.”

“In every game in the Championship you need all 11 players to contribute for 90 minutes," he added.

"You can’t have anyone taking their foot off the pedal or clubs like Cardiff will exploit those weaknesses. Fortunately we haven’t had that and we are working towards making sure that all  the players that go there on Saturday give their all."

Regarding his own situation, he said: “I don’t expect anything. I will just carry on until the Chairman and the Board tell me otherwise. We will just prepare for Cardiff while they make the right decision for Burnley Football Club.

“I am enjoying what I am doing and obviously with two wins we are just trying to keep that going. Everybody keeps asking the same question and I probably keep giving the same boring answers, but there’s nothing else I can give. All I have been asked to do is take care of the team and I will continue doing that. We’ve had two good results and we’ve set our focus on Cardiff and trying to get another one.”
