It's important we get those points on the board

Palace boss Neil Warnock has seen his side win just one point and fail to score in each of their two league games so far, but he's been happy enough with the level of performance. "I thought we played ever so well at Preston apart from a fifteen minute spell," he said.

"We did not get the breaks which you tend not to when you are away from home. We know we are a bit short on the striker situation obviously with Clinton Morrison going, but we have just got to muck in there. We are playing well and just need a goal to get us going and the lads have been very positive this week."

Warnock added: "I think it would be nice to score a goal, it is two teams looking for their first win. They have not got any points yet this season and despite losing to Ipswich last weekend it was the Ipswich goalkeeper who got man of the match, which shows that they have been creating chances.

"They have invested over the summer spending in the region of £3 million and have purchased very good players, and they will be desperate to get and push on themselves.

"In my eyes it is not a panic situation here. After ten games you can get a realistic view of what you can expect from the rest of the season. I am just taking my time even though we have not got a win. We have been a whisker away from winning both."

Burnley boss Owen Coyle boarded the team coach this afternoon knowing that we need to stop conceding bad goals as has happened in the opening two games. He said: "The biggest thing for me about the goals conceded was within the group we have to take individual responsibility to clear the lines.

"We haven't done that and we have paid a heavy price. We are not just laying everything at the door of the defence because ultimately it is a team thing and we need to defend all over the park. They need to win the individual battles and then we won't be giving away the soft goals we have been.

"Without making excuses every bit of bad luck that could come their way has happened, so what you do is get back on the training ground, work your socks off to put that right and hopefully you can translate that work into the game on Saturday. That's what we'll be looking to do this week.

"The players' attitudes have been spot on and they want to go and win games for this football club and the supporters. It's been a horrible two weeks, there is no getting away from that. Everybody knows the feeling we have for the club and how passionate we are about it.

"Football is everything to us so it is hurtful when you don't achieve that result. Obviously as a manager you realise the impact that has on everybody. That's not a responsibility to take lightly and I can assure everybody we hurt deeply with that.

"But again the only cure for that is hard work. You do one of two things, you either feel sorry for yourself or you go out and work hard to turn the corner which we will do.

"We will go to Palace in good heart because we know we are capable of winning games in the Championship. We know it will be a tough fixture but we will make sure the lads are ready to give their best.

"This team will get better the longer they play together, but first and foremost it's important we get those points on the board to allow us to develop that and take it on. There would be no better place to bounce back that Crystal Palace."
