It's exceptional from all concerned I would say

After the game, he said: "First of all congratulations to Burnley. I think they deserve it and there was a reflection of their season today in our game over 90 minutes. We got what we expected, there were no surprises.

"We wanted to compete very much and didn't want to complicate things in the beginning. Burnley is one of the best pressurising teams with Leicester and us but after 10-15 minutes we was 50/50, we couldn't then start to get the ball down.

"They put pressure on us collectively. Burnley did that very well and we got forced into a way of playing where we were second best.

"Disappointing first half. Second half we got one more centre-half in which gave us a better platform to get on the ball. We played better. We got chances in the box, sometimes a last ditch tackle stopped us from scoring that would have given us a chance to get back into the game.

"Overall I know we wasn't as good as we normally are but there have not been many days since I've been in the club, or very, very seldom we have had a performance like that and from that point we all have to take a lesson out of that game including me and we move on to the next game and it will give us a chance to get into the play-offs."

Sean Dyche simply said: "It's an amazing day and one that will certainly go down in the history books for this football club. We've had a number of history boys earlier this season and I think this has finished that off nicely.

"There were a few outside challenges in terms of people wondering whether we could last the distance, but we stayed focused on winning football matches. That is a massive credit to my players and staff and to the fans as well."

Dyche added: "The fans have played a huge part. Particularly from Christmas onwards they have been absolutely incredible. When I arrived here I mentioned about how important that feeling of positivity around the place was. They have bought into that ethos.

"Results accelerate that of course and hopefully that can continue next year. We can make Turf a really difficult place to come yet again."

Finally, he said: "Some of the talent this season and some of the goals have been absolutely incredible. That first goal today from Ashley Barnes was worthy of any football pitch.

"There are so many good things and markers about this season. It's a momentous occasion for everyone at the football club and for me to guide this group of players to what we've achieved.

"I'd like to thank my staff as it is a great job they've done.

"It's exceptional from all concerned I would say."
