It's back to the training ground and hard work now

They have struggled away from home and Jackett said: "It was pleasing. We haven't won away since we beat Middlesbrough ten games ago. We've been very close, we've had five draws out of nine away from home, had leads and been beaten by the odd goal.

"It was a very good performance today I felt. We dug in during the first half and negated the crowd somewhat and once we got one goal you could see the confidence flowing through the team."

The first two goals came from corners, something Millwall have struggled with. "I went on the Lions live radio show on Thursday night and that point was brought up," Jackett admitted. I said we'd worked at it, we'd scratched our heads really because we've had good deliveries on our corners. James Henry, Chris Hackett, Scott Barron and now Andros Townsend have put good balls and I'm pleased to say Paul Robinson responded with two crucial goals today.

"We have got some size and some power and the likes of Kevin Lisbie adding good heading ability to the likes of Robinson, Trotter and Morison. We feel we've got both the delivery and the people who can score and get that ball over the line.

"Burnley have come out of the Premier League last year and have won five of the last six games. Generally if you look at their home record it is excellent but it was a good performance today and we deserved to win."

Jackett might have been a happy man but Eddie Howe most definitely wasn't as he saw Burnley's unbeaten run, six games since the 1-0 defeat at Doncaster, come to an end.

It was a performance and a result he wasn't expecting and admitted: "Sometimes you learn more from defeats than you do from winning and I think we learned a lot today. I don't think we performed at all how we can.

"Credit to Millwall because I thought they defended very well and made it difficult by putting bodies behind the ball and defending quite deep. Their game plan worked, but we lacked spark and we were poor in possession, which is usually our strength. We gave the ball away and probably played a little direct, which surprised me."

It was goalless at half time and Burnley came out with all guns blazing after the interval, yet that's when Millwall got the first goal. "We came out of the traps well in the second half and were well on top, but we conceded a goal in our best spell which is hugely frustrating, especially conceding from two set plays.

"So we have a lot of work to do and it's back to the training ground and hard work now to put that right. That's the beauty of football. One minute you are up and the next you are down, so we just have to remain positive because we are still in a good position.

"The fact other results went well probably makes it even more frustrating because you think what if. There are no excuses though. We have to look at ourselves and the good thing is we have a game on Tuesday to bounce back in.

"It's an opportunity to put things right in front of our own fans, so we will look to try and play with the intensity we have done recently because I thought that was missing today."
