It's about finding that balance

He lost his job at Sunderland during last season and landed the Hull job in the summer after the departure of Nicky Barmby. He's steered them to close to the top of the league and will be coming to Burnley tonight hoping his side reclaim second place in the table.

Closes rivals Watford and Leicester both lost at the weekend and Bruce said: "This is what the Championship is and it's going to be a rollercoaster and there'll be some strange results. Let's just make sure we do our job. We know what we are capable of, so let's make a fist of it.

"Burnley have had a stutter of late so let's hope we can take advantage of that. They have a leading light in Charlie Austin and anybody who has 20-odd goals to his name has to be respected.

"They beat us at the KC earlier this season so we owe them one. I have heard that we've got a horrible record against Burnley but we've put a few of those records away this season. Let's hope this is another that we can erase."

Sean Dyche takes his side into the game on the back of an awful run at home that's seen some serious negativity in recent weeks. He said: There is a massive expectation here and I am getting to know about that and learn from it.

"The fans govern that expectation and the whys and wherefores. Our responsibility is to maintain and build on performances and look to improve, develop players, win games and do it all the right way.

"There is edginess around at the moment and that is sometimes the way with big expectation. Our own expectations are to go hard every game in order to win. We want the fans to travel on that journey with us and we want them on that journey with us.

"We are in 11th place and still probing and challenging the players to do better. The more experienced players are coming back to fitness and that adds a change to the look of the team possibly and it bodes well going forward."

He added: "Everyone was buzzing because we were keeping clean sheets and now not so because we haven't scored as freely at the other end. It's about finding that balance. It's not rocket science; keep it tight and go and score at the other end.

"There are 11 others out there trying to stop you doing that, but you have to find a way and overall we think, after an awkward run, that four points from two games is a good return. Now we need to move forward, build on the clean sheets and obviously we want to be more productive in front of goal."

He knows tonight will be a tough game and said: "Hull have invested reasonably heavily and they have an experienced and very good manager. It's no major surprise to see them up there, but equally nobody has any given right to be up there.

"The league has settled down over the season and the bigger clubs with big squads and financial power are in and among it. That's how it looks and we are looking to challenge that and go fight at that end of the market."
