It would have been nice to get a win

He was more than pleased with the way we played last night against Premiership opposition as were the players who were involved.

“The players seemed really pleased with the performance and I thought the lads played well and played some good football at times,” he said after the game.

“It was a good performance and we deserved a result out of the game. We’re not bothered about the result but it would have been nice to get a win although that wasn’t our aim.

“I was a bit disappointed with the goal we conceded from a corner, but Yobo had threatened to do that all night.”

When asked about his three new signings, Danny Coyne, Micah Hyde and Frank Sinclair he added, “They were very good, along with all of the lads. I’ve been pleased with all of the players ever since we returned to training and I’m delighted with all of the new signings too.”

After three weeks back in training the tactical work has now got underway and he concluded, “We’ve just done fitness work and Wednesday was the first time we worked on any tem play. I’m pleased with how that went.”

Everton boss David Moyes was not the happiest last night, and said, We didn’t play very well but we go away now for another spell and hopefully we can continue to keep improving.

“At the moment the results don’t matter but it would have been nice if we could have played a little better.”
