It was a smash and grab

Lawrence was quick to admit that we we worth our lead and was more than happy to settle for a point which he thought in the end Cardiff deserved.

"We started badly in both the first half and the second half but I thought in the end a draw was a fair result because we dominated the last twenty minutes.

"I thought Burnley were good value for their lead after an hour and more, no more than a one goal lead, but they deserved that. We didn’t deserve a win today but we didn’t deserve to lose.

"You are always in the game when you have a striker like Robert Earnshaw and yet again he has shown his quality with another quality finish and with a little more composure we could easily have snatched it in the end."

Stan didn’t see it quite like that, in fact not at all by the end and thought we had deserved to win the game.

"I thought we played particulary well today," said Stan. "We were in complete control of the game and other than free kicks they didn’t have any chances to score against us.

"We made a mistake and Robert Earnshaw finished it well and that’s what happens when you make mistakes with players like him around. And we were a bit jittery after that.

"It was a smash and grab from Cardiff though and I think Lennie Lawrence will certainly be happier than I am with the point."

Stan then highlighted some good performances from within the team: "Richard Chaplow is a good player and a good athlete and he got in there a few times today and had a fantastic game. as did Arthur and Branchy apart from Branchy’s mistake."

And on the return of Glen and his early departure Stan added, "He took a bang to his big toe in the first half and said he would give it a go in the second half. He did well."
