It gave the fans a chance to have a look at the new players

Leeds are now managed by Stan’s mate Peter Reid who was appointed the permanent manager during the summer after a short term contract in the last couple of months of last season.

Reidy was a far from happy man though after a performance he described as poor and lacking in desire.

"I thought it was very poor from our point of view," said Reid. "You can protect the players as much as you can, but there's no protecting them there. It's a pre-season game I can accept that, but you like to see some desire and passion with the season three weeks away.

"Certainly today the players have to take responsibility because it just wasn't good enough. There were a lot of Leeds fans here who were terrific and we just weren't good enough.

"I thought we had a go though, in terms of shutting down and doing things right I wouldn't complain, so it's not sour grapes after being beat, we got beat against a side who deserved it. It was just that the attitude and desire of the players was not good enough.

"We still have some players to come back but there were a lot of international players out there with experience but I didn't see what I wanted to see out there."

Stan though was happy enough with the performance he got from his players and it was another step up in performance towards our big kick off in just under two weeks.

"It was a good work out for us against a good side and I’d like to thank Peter Reid for bringing them over. I though we looked good going forward and we are getting better," said Stan.

"There are no points for it but it gave the fans a chance to have a look at the new players I’ve brought in.

"We’ve still got two weeks to go to the start of the season and the lads have worked hard for the last three weeks and during the summer. If we show the same effort, commitment and endeavour we will be OK."
