I want another cup run

Hartlepool boss Chris Turner believes his side can win through against Premier League opposition and make it into the third round. "It's a great time to be playing Burnley as they seem to be the talking point of the Premier League just now," Turner said.

"I know Owen Coyle has said he will change things around with his selection which is understandable given that their priority must be the Premier League. We know that whichever team he selects will be full of quality but we have started the season quite solidly and I'm confident we can give them a game.

"Last season we had some joy against West Brom and Stoke and also played well against West Ham. I'm confident we can enjoy tonight as well but it will be tough for us."

Owen Coyle insisted a year ago that the Carling Cup was a priority and nothing has changed, he wants another cup run.

"There's no doubt we have enjoyed the two league results, and what we do now is put them to one side and concentrate on the Carling Cup," he said. "It's going to be a tough game, but I want another cup run.

"The cup last year kick started us, we had a great run and that probably brought us to so many people's attention, so we want an extended run again. To do that we are going to have to work our socks off and look to show our quality on the ball.

"The players know how hard they had to work last year to get success in the cup and it's going to be the same this year. Hartlepool are going to be fired up and they have some very good players at their disposal, so we have to be up for it."

Burnley go into the game without the services of Steven Caldwell and Coyle said: "Steven is responding, but he is still not quite ready to join in with us yet. He is getting better but I would envisage that by the end of the week he will be ready to join in training and take things from there.

"As for the others, I've got no doubt those not starting will be sat frustrated on the bench. But part of the reason we have done so well in the last few games is how well the players have been working on the training ground.

"They have been pushing those with the jerseys, so now they will get a chance and they are deserving of it."
