I think we've had our challenges recently

Since Hutchings replaced Micky Mellon at Oakwell recently they have been unbeaten and the new man is confident that will still be the case after tonight's game.

However, he admitted that some of his players were suffering from tired legs after the 0-0 draw against Brighton, a game which saw Barnsley play the last quarter of an hour with ten men after Kelvin Etuhu was sent off for two yellow cards by referee Tony Harrington, of whom home boss Danny Wilson was very critical after the game, particularly for the first of those cards and for his overall handling of the game.

Hutchings said: "Kelv's suspended so that's something we've got to deal with. When these situations arise we get a bit irate but there's nothing much we can do about it. It's frustrating from our point of view, but the lads adapted well on Saturday. It disrupted us a little bit but we still performed well.

"We've got a good squad of players to choose from. Marcus (Pedersen) had a re-occurrence so he'll be a couple of weeks away. Martin Cranie has trained today (Monday) so that's good news. You need competition, it's always good."

It's two wins and a draw for Barnsley since Hutchings arrived and he added: "As far as I'm concerned, the boys have responded to what I've wanted from them. Whoever comes in, a manager or assistant or first team coach, you expect an immediate impact and sometimes that happens, sometimes it doesn't.

"At the moment we are playing well, we've got confidence and belief and we are looking forward to the next game. The work rate, commitment and desire, that's what these fans want but we've showed that bit of quality as well."

Looking at Burnley, he said: "Sean's done a fantastic job. He's had two strikers that have scored 20 goals each and if you have that you'll be in the top six at least.

"We're more concerned about what we do and how we address things. We'll see what we can impose on them. They've got points on the board and it's up to others to catch them up."

It looks very likely that Sean Dyche will have more players available to him tonight. We know Dean Marney returns from suspension but there is some very good news regarding two of our recently injured players.

"Trippier has come through a few days training and he's looking good," Dyche confirmed, adding: "Danny Ings is back out on the grass and has been for five or six days now, looking really sharp and looking really keen to get on with it to be honest.

"And Dean Marney of course comes back in the frame after his suspension. It's an important time for us to have those players coming back fit."

There's no certainty that they will start the game, or even feature, and Dyche said: "We'll check after today (Monday), obviously they've trained literally just now, and I'm straight in here speaking to you so we'll see how that settles overnight.

"But there's certainly no worries from their point of view, and as I suggested it's sometimes our decision to slow them down, and we did have to do that on Saturday. We just felt it was too quick, and with that extra three or four days training it can make a difference."

Dyche concluded: "I think we've had our challenges recently, particularly in that last couple of weeks with people being out at different times, but we've come through it very well, showing fantastic signs of the squad's mentality and the belief they have.

"It's fair to say that you want those players back in amongst it, and they're on their way back so we're looking forward to it. We want to make sure we keep giving that good level of performance, we've done that all season and we've  got the rewards so far."
