I set my teams out to win games

Bryan Gunn, who recently took over in the Norwich hot seat from the Sinister One Glenn Roeder, has warned his side to retain their concentration because of Burnley's knack of scoring late goals.

He said: "Burnley have shown this season that they're a lasting team. They've scored around the 90th minute and score lots of late goals, so we'll need to be totally switched on for the full duration of the game.

"Their fitness levels are very high and their manager's pointed out that they're benefiting from the work they did in the pre-season. Our lads are a fit bunch as well so it's a battle of the bravest, a battle of the fittest. We need to go out there and put on a performance which matches and betters what Burnley do."

Speaking about the Clarets, Gunn added: "Martin Paterson is a danger, he's a very hard working player who does score goals, so he's one that at the end of the 90 minutes I'm sure our defenders will know has been in the game because he chases everything down.

"Robbie Blake, he's he danger man and we've been watching him and he's an excellent, experienced player. They're all playing with confidence and you can see that, enjoying a great run of form both home and away. Winning and drawing breeds confidence in your squad, and they're a very settled side as well, so to have that as a manager is something I'm very jealous of Owen Coyle for."

Down in the bottom three, he said: "The realisation on Tuesday night was that we're in the bottom three, and we have to make a choice now in which way we want to go. We've got 13 opportunities to get out of the bottom three, and that starts with Burnley."

Owen Coyle has again spoken about the attitude of his players after they came back late to grab that point against Coventry. "The way we work and the way we are we have a never say die attitude about us," he said.

"We have a real determination to try and achieve results which isn't always possible. The amount of times we have gone behind but still kept driving on shows the belief and trust we have.

"We, as staff, really believe in the group of players and they have shown they can go toe to toe with the very best. We stress that to them on a daily basis and I think the penny has dropped.

"You always worry if you go behind because you are chasing the game, but we always believe we can get goals, whatever the period in the game. And to back that up we have the physical fitness and mental strength to do that. That's why I haven't made a big issue about the amount of games we've played because I know the physical condition they are in."

Coyle continued: "I think anybody that looks at our team would know that they have to make sure they are at us for the full duration of the game because we keep going. It's a compliment to the lads and shows the esteem in which they are held by other teams.

"If you speak to people who say they are playing Burnley at Turf Moor there is a tendency to give you a lot of respect. I think we have earned that, but then it's up to us to break them down.

"I would much rather have that though than people coming here thinking Turf Moor is an easy venue to come for three points. Everybody realises that's not the case now and I think they know they will have to be at their best to get something, and that augers well for me.

"I set my teams out to win games. That's my philosophy and I think I would be short changing the fans if I didn't. It's not always possible, sometimes you are under the cosh but in principle we are going out there to be positive and dictate the game."
