Manager Colin Calderwood has said it is time to look forward and not back to Wolves as they prepare to take on the Clarets. "We've got Molineux out of our system. We needed the break, we didn't need to play another game quickly afterwards to wash that away.
"It has been a useful exercise and I think we're ready not just for this game but the full week of Preston next Tuesday and Charlton next Saturday. The players have got little targets and little goals that they want to achieve in the next three games. They want to improve but they still don't fear anything, which is very positive for us."
Burnley's last two league games have both ended in 0-0 draws and manager Owen Coyle, unlike Calderwood, would have preferred not to have had the break. "Ideally you want to be playing the games, but it gives the lads a bit of freshness," he said.
"They have been working hard and their attitude has been tremendous so come Saturday hopefully we will see that. The start has been frustrating, tinged with a bit of disappointment. We have had three clean sheets since though and maybe we have taken a bit away from our attacking flair so we could shore things up at the back.
"If we continue to get clean sheets then we have had chances to score and the margins are minimal. I have taken great heart from our defensive displays recently and hopefully we can build on that platform to take a percentage of our chances when they come. If we can do that, everything will be positive and we will have a bright outlook.
"We are very close to turning those draws into wins and when we do that we'll start moving up the table. There are an awful lot of points at stake."
Burnley will have Steven Thompson available for his debut tomorrow after signing on the transfer deadline a week last Monday and of his new recruit Coyle added: "Steven is a very infectious character with a point to prove after slipping down the pecking order at Cardiff when hey brought some big names in.
"He wants to do well for the football club and get back into the international set up. That's the type of player we want at the club. Given the career he has had it would be easy to rest on his laurels, but he is keen to play his part.
"As and when he is involved, I think he could be a tremendous foil for young Martin Paterson. Hopefully he can have the same impact on him as he did with Michael Chopra at Cardiff. He is a different type of player which gives us another option so we have several permutations to consider now."
And of the striker he missed out on who could line up against us, Coyle said: "Andrew Cole is a top player and a top man, somebody I have got a lot of time for. I still keep in touch with him. He came here, re-energised himself and showed his quality. Personally I am pleased he has carried on with football because I think it would have been foolish of him to call it a day."
Back to the game Coyle added: "It will be another tough game, but one that's winnable. We are going to have to be at our best but I think we have shown enough in training to suggest that they are ready. They are champing at the bit and raring to go."
