He was in dreamland after the game

Neither of them had too much to say about the game itself but Wilkins thought Millwall just about deserved to win the game.

"I think this is dizzy heights for us (sixth in the table), but I thought the scoreline flattered us a touch if I’m perfectly honest," said the Millwall assistant boss.

"I thought we deserved to win the game but not by two clear goals. Andy Marshall had a superb game for us and made five or six stunning saves, which we are grateful for.

"Dennis made the decision to play Andy, he felt that Willy Gueret had had a little run and we needed to freshen things up a bit, as he would do in the outfield situation as well. It keeps both goalkeepers on their toes because they know exactly what the score is."

Stan was quick to admit that the Clarets weren’t at their best and he highlighted the performances of the two keepers.

"I didn’t think we played very well by our standards," he said after the game. "I reckon we had six gilt edged chances to score and maybe we just weren’t hungry enough to put the ball in the net. And if you don’t take the chances you get what you deserve.

"We made bad mistakes for both goals. For the first Mo Camara stood there watching. For the second I thought our keeper could have got the ball but I have yet to discuss it properly with him as he was in dreamland after the game and didn't think it was his fault.

"I thought the young lads in midfield did well, there wasn’t a lot of experience in there but I thought Bradley Orr did particularly well on his debut and Neil Wood also did well."

Stan then went on to talk about the crowd behavior which has been reported elsewhere on the site.
