Villa boss was more than willing to say we deserved it but that was probably based on his opinion of his on team’s performance that he described as embarrassing.

“We came here with our strongest side but there were no positives tonight. We’re probably better out of this competition in view of the small squad but that’s not what we came here for.
"We picked up another injury but we are not blaming that – it was a disgusting performance, definitely the worst since I’ve been here. We’ve let all the fans down who came to see us.”
Steve Cotterill was a happy man after seeing the Clarets through to the last sixteen of the competition. “I’m very proud of them tonight, although I’m always proud of them anyway,” the manager said.
“They were terrific tonight and it was good for us to give the fans a good performance after the last two games at home.
“We scored three good goals too. We said to Mo in the last two games that he hasn’t been anywhere near the box, so that may have taken them by surprise and we encouraged him to do it tonight. He was doing it earlier in the season and almost scored at West Ham.
“I don’t know where he was running to afterwards though, because he came all the way over to me and then had to run all the way back to left back. He should have just waved to me.
“And to add to that Jean-Louis has scored with his right foot, so he’s delighted with that one.”
He saved his special praise for captain Robbie Blake who turned in an inspired performance. “The catalyst of the performance tonight was Robbie Blake,” he added. “He was superb and put in a real captain’s performance.
“Forget the penalty because Tommy Sorensen is a great penalty saver and that was another great save.”
Finally as to who he wants in the next round. “I don’t really know, maybe a big team here and get Sky down although I’m not sure after Friday. I’ll be happy as long as it means we get some good revenue.”
