He might use them all up

This was Middlesbrough's third pre-season game, as it was ours, but their first in this country having played the previous two in forty degree heat in Austria, and Southgate was happy enough with it all after using most of his available squad.

"It was a good test for us," said the Boro boss. "I was very pleased with the two new lads, Tuncay (Sanli) and Jeremie (Aliadiare) both looked sharp in particular. For the younger lads it was a good run out for them and they've had a look at what Championship football is all about. They will realise it is a tough test for them coming to a ground like this.

"It was a worthwhile exercise and a few of them got through ninety minutes and a few went an hour and that was what we were looking for."

It's two draws and a win for the Clarets and this was an afternoon that pleased Steve Cotterill. "Both sides played some good football at times and it was just what we wanted," he said.

Again Steve spoke about his strikers, the injuries and the goals. "I was a bit sorry for Kyle Lafferty (who came off after just fifteen minutes with a back injury). He seems to be going through a tough time at the moment. Robbie Blake tweaked his thigh in training and we'll see how he is for Tuesday."

There was time for a joke from the manager who added: "And there was another goal for Andy Gray. We've told him to stop because he might use them all up."
