Every time that whistle blows you have to be ready

Dickov's concerns were over our opening goal from the penalty spot in the second minute of the second half. "My thoughts are it is not a penalty," Dickov said. "I did not think it  was at the time and we just watched it numerous times and we still do not know why it has been given.

"We have been told it is for a foul by James Coppinger. From the Burnley player's point of view he has not gone down. There were no appeals, no nothing and the referee has given it.

"What I will say is I know Burnley felt they should have had a penalty in the first half and a few of their players and staff were at the referee in the tunnel so it's whether that has got to him or not."

He added: "I'm not going to take anything away from Burnley because I thought they were fantastic. They're a top team, but for that to happen 20 seconds into the second half it is a massive, massive moment in the game.

"It's decisions at this time of the season where there is a lot to play for that officials have to be getting right and it was quite clearly wrong."

Dyche, meanwhile, had another winning performance to talk about. "People talk about the business end, but we won ten of the first 13 games and I think that was the business end," he said.

"I think last Saturday at Charlton was the business end, as was tonight. I have played long enough to know that every game is the business end of the season if that makes sense.

"That's how I look at it, every game is important and every time that whistle blows you have to be ready. We've been showing great signs of that, we were tonight and we will be ready again on Saturday."

He continued: "People have questioned us after a couple of injuries, but at the end of the day it's about the team and the mentality of a group of people. They all understand about the framework of the team and the energy required and the relentless nature of what we expect from them, and it bodes well, but there's still work to be done."

Second half goals from Sam Vokes, from the penalty spot, and Junior Stanislas, won it for the Clarets and Dyche said: "Doncaster had a freedom in the sense that they have put some good results together recently.

"I knew Paul would have his players ready and I thought they used the ball well in the first half, although we never looked in real trouble. But we have been going well at home and once the second half got going we got the penalty.

"I was surprised we didn't get one in the first half for the foul on Ashley, but thankfully we got one and I thought we were good value after that and could have scored a few more with a rub of the green."

It's league leaders Leicester next. Dyche said: "It makes for a good day and we know we will have to work hard and do the basics well. All of the good things we've done so far we have to do again, it's as simple as that."
