Every game is a new challenge

Mellon's first game came at Brighton on Tuesday which they won 2-1 so no surprise when he said ahead of tomorrow's game: "We're in a good place. We've got bumps and bruises but we've got both Chris O'Grady and Marcus Pederson who have trained today. That's a huge bonus for us so we're looking in good shape."

Looking forward to the game against his old club, he said of us: "They've done very well. They're very well organised. I know Sean Dyche and he's got them working very, very hard for each other. We know we're going to get a very tough game but we're going there off the back of a good performance on Tuesday. It's a good place to go and show how good we are.

"We're going up there to try and get a result, there's no doubt about that. We're going there to trouble Burnley. We know what their threats are but we've got plenty of our own. We're looking forward to getting that confidence back again and looking forward to trying for those three points.

"A win changes everything, and a good performance always gives the place a lift. I came in this morning and everyone was bouncing, and suddenly the treatment room becomes empty.

"We've enjoyed the victory in Brighton, but we're focused on Burnley who I know will be tough, but we'll make it tough for them as well, there's no doubt about that."

Sean Dyche will hope he can call on both Dean Marney and Danny Ings. "We are hopeful on a couple of returns," he said. "Danny has come through the last few days very well and he is getting closer and Dean is very similar, but we'll have to make a judgement call because at the moment they're not definite.

"Michael comes back from suspension too, so the group is getting back to where we want it to be. We know injuries and suspensions do happen, and it's important we get them back and keep the group strong and keep performing."

Having been asked about Barnsley's win at Brighton, Dyche added: "Quite simply that is the Championship, you can't take anything for granted and we certainly don't.

"Every game is a new challenge. We've enjoyed our time at Turf Moor since our last home defeat, so we want to make sure we go again and deliver another performance in order to get a win.

"We're really pleased with how the players have been going about games. The physical meets mental approach to the game is important and we'd delivered that well.

"We went a point closer to the top on Tuesday night and I think people forget that and overlook that at times, but we are still right up there and doing a very good job of it."
