We have a few players who are just a bit off colour

Grimsby player boss Paul Groves might not be aware that his side are struggling near the bottom of the league, again after the game he claimed that the Clarets were up there in the play off area giving everyone reason to think that he hasn’t seen a league table all season.

"I think we would have settled for a point before the game," Groves said after his Grimsby side had earned themselves a draw.

"We had done well to get in front but I was disappointed with the goal we gave away with it coming from a set piece.

"We were dangerous on the break but we said at half time that we needed a bit more quality. The 4-5-1 system worked again for us and Burnley had to change to match it. The system has allowed us to keep clean sheets recently and has helped us to keep the ball.

"This is a good result for our confidence, Burnley are a good side who have been and around the play offs all season."

Stan was aware that the performance was again not good enough but has still not ruled out the possibility of us finishing in the top six and a play off place.

"In the first half we were very poor but we were in the ascendancy for half an hour in the second half but lethargic in the last fifteen minutes. But it was better overall in the second half than the first half.

"Right now we just have a few lads who are not playing to their full capabilities but that will change.

"At the start of the second half we took the bull by the horns, got forward better and got balls in the box and turned them round.

"To get in the play offs is a tall order now but with the players we have we are capable of going on a run and winning matches but at the moment for some reason we have a few players who are just a bit off colour. They will get it back and there is another chance on Tuesday.

"We still have 27 points to play for and we are capable of winning all those games. We have been on a bad run but have stopped it today without playing well. The way forward now is up. I have every confidence in them and they will improve".
