Clarets Latest - Burnley V Bradford City live from Turf Moor

Last updated : 20 September 2003 By Ben Slater
Clarets are live out of Turf Moor to you today
The Clarets will be looking to bounce back after losses to both Norwich and Nottingham Forest when they clash with Bradford City at Turf Moor shortly. Incidently, the Clarets have been kept goalless in their last two encounters in Division 1, conceding 5 goals in all. This all occurring after Stan Ternent looked to have set the Clarets in the right direction with wins over Crewe, Gillingham and then Stoke. The Gaffer must surely make some changes this afternoon - to amend the so-called 'drought' up front affecting the last two games perhaps sliding another striker up alongside Delroy Facey, who was impressive against Gareth Taylor's new club Nottingham Forest - and to perhaps mop things up at the back. The Clarets will be aiming to improve their home record this season, winning 1 out of 4 and scoring 3 goals to the 8 they've conceded.

The Bantams have had a mixed start to the season winning 3 of their first 7 and currently sit 1 point above Burnley with a game in hand. After a good win against Crystal Palace midweek, Bradford will most certainly be hoping to push further up the table. However, the Clarets will beat anyone in Divison One on their day, so lets hope it's one of those days for us.

Thank you for joining me today, up the Clarets! Please scroll down for the teams, which will include substitutions, goals and cards. Half time scores from Division One will appear at the bottom of the page.

Match:
The Clarets will possibly line up 4-3-3. There are some conflicting reports about which Moore is in the side unfortunately. Clarets-Mad strongly believe it is in fact Ian who is in the starting XI.

Floodlights on, overcast conditions.
Beresford receives generous support, 287 games for the Clarets.
May skippers the side.

1' Bradford kick off, going right to left.
2' Facey shoots wide, had Chadwick in support.
3' Free kick to Burnley 40 yards out, ball in from Farrelly - May should have taken a shot but caught in possession to the cries of "Shoot" from the crowd.
5' Chadwick gets away but the ball isn't good enough for Facey, good signs for Burnley though.
6' Francis has a shot, comfortable save by Jensen - shot lacked anything.
7' Free-kick to Bradford just outisde of the box, foul on Branch by May - Evans' shot over the bar.
8' Good chance for Bradford after Ian Moore lost possession, Summerbee's ball cut out by Jensen with ease.
10' Branch off-side for Bradford.
11' Cross from West, far too deep though and Clarets attack comes to an end. Scrappy so far.
12' Facey was away but decision goes against him, strangely.
14' Foul by Ian Moore on Emanuel.
15' Corner to Bradford, after West was caught in possession, comes to nothing.
16' Shot from Blake from long range, comfortable save by Beresford.
20' Best chance of the game from Burnley, created by Blake, but unfortunately Ian Moore makes a meal of it, easy save for Beresford.
21' TERRIBLE decision by the linesman, Branch clearly offside, Jensen makes an important save, corner - which comes to nothing.
22' Lovely move, but Farrelly given offside, typical. Shot was saved anyway.
22' Another corner to Bradford, cleared by Farrelly falls to Summerbee whose shot flies over the bar.
25' Nice move initiated by Todd, in the end his shot was labelled as a 'defenders effort'. Need I say no more.
27' Farrelly clear, but 'put it wider than Todd's effort'. At least we're shooting.
28' Chance for Summerbee, who sends his shot into the Jimmy Mac.
31' Gavin injured for Bradford, about 3 minutes of treatment and then he decides to continue.
35' Great chance for Facey, can't finish after good work from Blake in the box, best chance of the half.
37' A Bradford attack again comes to nothing.
37' Possible off-side missed by our favourite linesman, Jensen cleared it well.
39' Good effort from Emanuel and well defended by Todd, on the counter great attacking move Blake has his shot fantastically saved by Beresford.
40' On the counter-counter, Bradford attack, win a corner which comes to nothing.
40' Corner to Burnley, first for the game. May wins the header, but easily saved by Beresford.
41' Clarets win another corner, the game's livened up. Headed away by Wetherall. Free kick to Bradford, nice turn from Facey.
42' GOAAAAL! Ian Moore!!! Great work from Grant, Ian Moore smacked it past D'arlin and 1-0 to Burnley!
44' Pressure from Burnley, Facey looked in good position, couldn't pull the trigger.
45' 2 minutes of time added on.
47' Great save from Jensen, Emanuel was away and the Dane keeps it 1-0.
HALF TIME
SECOND HALF:
Weller on for Grant
45' Clarets win an early corner, comes to nothing.
46' Bradford putting the Burnley goal under pressure, Clarets held strong.
49' An absolutely shocking miss from Delroy Facey, Blake's shot saved, Facey misses from 3 yards...how!?
50' Clarets all over the place at the back, hopefully we wont rue our miss.
51' Ian Moore has a flying shot, harmlessly wide.
51' Great run and cross from Camara, well caught at full stretch by Beresford.
53' GOAAAAAL!!! Luke Chadwick!!! Fantastic goal, Farrelly slipped it to Chadwick who went on a mazy run and smashed it past Beresford with his left boot ... 2-0 to the Clarets!!
55' Muirhead on for Summerbee for the Bantams.
55' Consecutive corners for Bradford, last one hooked away by Weller.
56' Handball by Weller, strange free-kick...kick hits the wall, 7th corner for Bradford. Goalkick - and it should have been a corner, oh well evens it up I suppose.
58' GOAAAAL!!! Luke Chadwick again!! What a sharpshooter, who are ya, get in there, it's all happening! Great cross from Camara, Chadwick makes no mistake from close range with his right boot on the volley. Come on Chaddy, hat-trick mate.
60' Something happened, but I missed it - too busy celebrating.
61' Good save from Beresford from Ian Moore to his right, as we look for our 4th.
62' As all the men wince, Mo goes down with 'that pain' as Muirheads shot hits him you know where.
65' Attack from Bradford, but Gray's shot well over the bar.
65' Edds on for Gavin for the Bantams
67' GOAAAAAL!!! It's Robbie Blake!! I can't believe this, delerium at Turf Moor. Farrelly sent away Blake, great finish past Beresford who just has that Burnley/goals bond he seems to always reflect. 4-0! A bit unfair, Marlon didn't have a chance with any of them.
69' Good shot from Blake, comfortable save by Beresford.
72' Branch shoots on the turn but doesn't trouble the target, one of those days for City.
73' Graham Branch on for May, perhaps some match fitness ahead of the Carling Cup match next week.
74' Good save again from Beresford, certainly playing well...it was Blake with the shot.
77' Farrelly, possibly man of the match comes off for a well earned breathe, replaced by young Chaplow.
78' Free kick to Bradford just outside the box, given for a handball against Weller. Branch hit his free kick into the wall.
79' Clarets on the counter, Camara 'bombing away like a gazelle' pulled it back to Blake who sent Facey away and he HIT THE BAR!
80' Cornwell on for Evans for Bradford.
81' Another great save by Beresford this time off a Chaplow drive.
82' Jensen shows a touch of arrogance, dribbling into his box.
83' Gray shoots well wide for Bradford.
85' Facey blocks a clearance, needed to give it to Chadwick though.
85' Facey heads into Beresfords arms.
88' Fantastic save from Jensen, the idle 'keeper had to be on his toes, saved well from Edds and keeps his clean sheet.
90' Robbie Blake given sponsors Man of the Match award.
90' Great work from Blake, sent away Chadwick for his hat-trick but Beresford was excellant once more.
91' Jensen makes an easy save from Michael Branch.
