It's not just Port Vale, and it's not just Rochdale who sit three points behind with a game in hand after beating Macclesfield. On Wednesday we face Preston, on current form the best team in the league, away from home. Should Preston beat us it would take them within five points of us with two games in hand.
By the time we get to Preston in two day's time it looks as though Rochdale will have drawn level with us. They face Blackpool tomorrow and the former league leaders can't find a point from anywhere now as their slide down the table continued with a 4-0 defeat at home to Shrewsbury.
Wigan and Wrexham were also winners on Saturday whilst the other two games ended in 1-1 draws.
We've no game this coming Saturday, and neither have Port Vale. but Rochdale are again in action with a trip to Bury.
With Morecambe at home and Wrexham away to follow, our game at Preston this Wednesday is really of the utmost importance.
