Wrexham win sees Clarets drop to third

Last updated : 31 March 2011 By Tony Scholes
There weren't many at Kendal to see a Wrexham team, again including former Claret Glen Little, beat Morecambe 1-0 to go second; the attendance was recorded at 15 with 5 of them being Wrexham supporters, and they saw a game that, according to reports could have brought an avalanche of goals.

In the end it was just one, and from Wrexham full back Steve Tomassen who is a first year apprentice at the Racecourse.

Preston's game at Accrington has been re-arranged with North End involved in the Lancashire Senior Cup and beating Liverpool on penalties to qualify for a final against either Blackburn or Manchester United.

The only other game was that between Shrewsbury and Bury and finally Bury found someone else to get points against. They are bottom of the league and their only four points prior to yesterday had come in a draw and a win against Burnley, but they won 4-1 at Shrewsbury to lift themselves closer to within six points of Macclesfield.

There was a bigger crowd here of 150 and it was Shrewsbury who actually took the lead and with a spectacular shot from Lionel Ainsworth from all of 40 yards. By half time it had all changed with Bury 2-1 in front and they went on to win the game 4-1.

Unfortunately, yet again, Bury have failed to publish any details of the game other than to confirm it was going ahead and we are unable to establish who scored their goals.

We have another chance to regain top spot next week, albeit for just a day, with us in action at home against Morecambe on Tuesday and both Preston and Wrexham playing the following day.
