As they got their first points it was just the opposite for Tranmere who suffered their first defeat, going down 4-0 at home to Walsall, bringing with it the heaviest defeat of the day.
But at the top Preston continued with their fifth league win out of five although their 2-1 win against Oldham wasn't able to keep up their five goals per game average set previously. Their goal difference is though a massive plus 21 having scored 23 and conceded just 2.
Rochdale and Stockport were the two sides closest to Preston and they met on Saturday with Stockport coming out on top with a 2-1 at Rossendale United's ground and they are now two points clear of Wigan and Walsall in second place.
Carlisle, Morecambe and Shrewsbury also recorded wins whilst Burnley's 6-3 victory against Accrington has lifted us to eleventh in the table and we've now got a positive goal difference to take into this week's home game against Oldham Athletic.
Because of the first team game being played early on Saturday for television coverage it means the youth game will now be played at Gawthorpe on Friday afternoon with a 2:00 p.m. kick off.
