Behind them come Wigan, Stockport and Walsall. They had wins against Chester, Tranmere and Wrexham to stay within touching distance of North End whilst a further three points behind are Macclesfield, Rochdale and Shrewsbury.
Port Vale, Morecambe and Carlisle were the victims for those three clubs and it means the league is now starting to stretch out. Preston always were favourites this season but I suspect it will eventually be a closer league than last season when the top three just pulled away.
Our defeat at Preston has seen us drop two places to 13th with both Bury and Oldham going above us after wins against Accrington and Blackpool.
Burnley's next league game comes a week on Saturday when we play Carlisle at Gawthorpe, whilst this weekend we play our first round tie in the Youth Alliance Cup against Wigan. This is also at home and kicks off on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m.
