Sometimes the flowing football I like to see takes a back seat

Ash saw his side win the game 2-1 with goals from Alex MacDonald and Curtis Woods as the temperatures dropped below freezing at Kendal and he admitted that conditions were hardly conducive to the way he wants to play.

"We got a result," he said. "Coming here isn't easy and, coming to places like this, the opposition is going to make it difficult for you and to be fair to Morecambe they did that.

"But we've got the three points. The one disappointing thing is that we conceded a goal. We wanted a clean sheet. We missed a few chances but I'm pretty pleased that we've come here on a difficult pitch on a bad day and come away with a result.

"It keeps the unbeaten run going and I'm more pleased with the result than the performance really. Sometimes the flowing football I like to see takes a back seat and we ground out a result. We showed that side of our game, which is pleasing."
