But Preston's lead at the top of the league remains at three points with second place Stockport also drawing their game at home to Shrewsbury. That's allowed Wigan to move into second, above Stockport on goal difference, after the comprehensively beat Tranmere.

And Walsall have also reached the 13 point total with a 2-1 win over Port Vale, and for Vale it was back to the bottom of the league because Accrington secured their first win of the season with an easy 3-0 victory over Morecambe.

Accrington were the last team to win a game and Preston are the only side unbeaten in a league that looks as though it is going to be much tighter than last season when three teams, eventual winners Wrexham along with Burnley and Carlisle pulled well clear of the rest.

We'd drawn on the Friday at home to Oldham and Carlisle had an easy win at Blackpool. For Wrexham though there was a surprise defeat to Macclesfield. The other winners this weekend were Bury who overcame Chester.

For Burnley, it's a trip to leaders Preston this week as we look to get our third win of the season. The full results are below along with this week's fixtures and the leading Burnley goalscorers.
