Reserves come good in second half

Steven Hewitt - scored the first goal

In the first half we never seemed to get into anything like the sort of play we should at Garforth recently. We dominated at times but didn't often look like scoring. The Padiham goalkeeper did make a couple of decent saves but we too often weren't able to get on the end of things.

However, it changed in the second half when we much better. The play was more fluent and some of the play was really enjoyable to watch.

The opening goal came 12 minutes into the second half and was somewhat unfortunate for the keeper who allowed the ball to run loose. Steven Hewitt, in his last bit of action, made no mistake.

The second came from Joe McKee who finished well with ten minutes to go but it was a superb ball through from Alex-Ray Harvey; the midfielder again looking impressive.

Whilst many will enthuse at some of the forward play, and rightly so, it was again built on a solid back line and again, as at Garforth, the three central defenders used were in outstanding form.

Manager Eddie Howe wants to build a young first team at Burnley, and he's very fortunate because there was again firm evidence that we have some very good young players coming through the system.

We are due to play Preston next Wednesday although no venue and kick off time have as yet been confirmed.

The Burnley team was;

Josh Cook, Anthony Glover, Neil Yadolahi (Tom Anderson 62), Alex Coleman, Dave Lynch, Steven Hewitt (Chris Anderson 62), Alex-Rae Harvey, Joe McKee, Dominic Knowles, Sol Ofia (Daniel Barrie 45), Ross Wilson (Louis-Rae Beadle 62).
